In a week where we visited both Crick Show and the Stoke Bruerne Gala we had the opportunity to see a number of boats that had paint schemes which, to me at least, look the business. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts I’m a fan of very simple lettering to go on the cabin sides of Eileen, in fact a simple paint scheme all round.

The following examples examplify the kind of thing we’re hoping to achieve…

These three images fail to do justice to the lovely, straightforward lettering found on Alnwick.
The lettering fills the available spaces beautifully, forming a coherent and balanced overall design.

The other style we really like is the utilitarian GUCCCo. wartime lettering.
Seen here on William James
And in it’s purest form on Sculptor.
