Mizzle falling. The temperature dropping. Fields and sky merging soft-edged. A late Autumn Sunday morning found me driving solo to Banbury to complete the chores that’ll settle the boat into the coming Winter. A topping-&-tailing day involving emptying the main water tank, draining down the pipes, lubing and cleaning and generally sorting. The start of a kind of hibernation. A day to fuss over the ‘old girl’ and check that she’s prepared for her 110th winter.
