As I mentioned in the previous post, in typical British Summer fashion, the Sunday after a glorious Saturday dawned Autumnal wet and grey. However, here are a few more images of a much quieter parade and rally.

Breakfast aboard the boat, and yep the Boys do eat cereal without milk! We had a good night’s sleep and woke ready for another rallying day…

Unfortunately, the dazzling Summer sunshine of Saturday had been replaced by grey clouds and steady rain… still, not to be disheartened we got togged up and headed out into the day unperturbed…

There’s something beautiful about boats in the rain, the glossy vividness of their colour schemes perhaps…
IMG_6383
Some of the boats were turning for home and didn’t hang about for the second day…
IMG_6381
The beauty’s in the details…

I get drawn to photographing these two seemingly abandoned boats each year, as they become a little more dilapidated…
IMG_6386
The Boys gaze fascinated into the inky depths of Braunston Tunnel. There’s the low humhumhum of a boat deep inside, it’s headlamp as yet a barely discernable orange/yellow pinprick of light…

A lean-to next to the shop at Bottom Lock…

Back at the rally the weather was slowly clearing up. Here’s the much restored ‘President’ leading the morning parade and passing our Eileen.
IMG_6388
The crew of butty ‘Northolt’, perhaps bored of the long delays in the parade, moor up behind us, much to the delight of the Boys…

The stop-start nature of parading allows time to do those vital housekeeping chores…

‘Skipper’

It was a quieter morning, I liked it… more time to look and listen, a chance to take things at a leisurely pace…
IMG_6393
Time too to talk… a huddle of people and boats.

A magnificent array of working boats…

I was draw to the bold, bright, simple design of this panel on ‘Fellows, Morton & Clayton, Ltd.’ motor ‘Owl’
IMG_6396
With ominous clouds gathering over the showground, the ‘beer garden’ in front of the music tent was almost deserted…
IMG_6397
Many working boats were graced with pots of wild flowers…

A medley of fore-ends ‘Eileen’, ‘Fenny’ & ‘April Squire’

Coming to the end of our weekend at the rally… grand times.
