As part of my early and informal research for Dollis-Mutton-Brent Notebook I wondered if any postcards had been produced of this minor tributary of a minor river.
I was amazed to find that there had been, as this 1906 postcard shows.
The image is beguiling enough – rural Finchley 100+ years ago – but when I turned over the postcard and read the message I realised that, in terms of the Notebook’s archive, I’d found something just a little bit special!

How is it not worth living in such an outlandish place as E. Finchley to see such beautiful scenery as this?
